However, with that much time behind me and with a wealth of newer DC Animated Universe series and movies produced since then, this is where I am now. First off, the art is great. The backgrounds are beautiful and the character designs are solid. However, compared to the character designs that would come later in the DC Animated Universe, while still good, they simply dont hold their own. They are interesting in that you can see these are the foundation of what is to come later, but theyre not quite there. The animation isnt top notch. Its good. Good enough, really, and it does a fine job of telling the stories, but not great. There are many times where I find myself cringing at a strangely rendered image on the screen. Where this series really shines, beyond the historical aspects, are in its stories. The stories are wonderful. Most are fantastic, but even the worst in the bunch are pretty good.
